Weekly listening groups
Ok, call me crazy, but I have an idea.
See, for me, one of the best parts of going to a concert or performance is the group aspect of it - the energy of the other people in the room, the communal experience of listening to music.
So here we have this amazing new technology that allows me to play music for you, live, from my apartment to yours.
And I love this new technology - it excites me - but a big part of what excites me the most about it is the potential it creates to actually bring us all closer together, not only in an individual, online sort of way, but in a physical, interactive way, too!
Picture this:
This Thursday you gather some friends together, hook up the computer to the TV (big screen experience!), and I play a show for you and your friends, in your living room, and we all hang out, chat, maybe you and your friends make dinner, have drinks, and you guys hang out for the rest of the evening, after the show (or before, depending on the time!)
Of course not everyone can do this - especially if it's the middle of the day or 5am! But for those who can, I love the idea of making a real night of it - mostly because I love the idea of giving you guys a reason to get together in the physical world and spend some time with people you care about. I have recently realized the value in community, in a way that is completely new to me. Hanging out with my friends is the best thing ever. I love the idea of using the most modern, sometimes alienating technology to bring people closer together in the physical world.
(I have many other ideas about this, too, which I will get into once I get some feedback on this initial phase of the plan!)
If people decide to do the Thursday night group thing, it would be so cool to hear a little bit about what went on at your gathering. You could post it on here - let us know who attended, what you did...
I've committed to Thursday night broadcasts, and will do my absolute best to keep to that schedule. I might have to postpone on certain nights when I'm on tour, but I will give lots of advance notice.
Do you guys like this idea? Is it something you would enjoy developing with me? Thursday night gatherings, around the world...let me know what you think.

Last Thursday was the first time I've ever heard you...I've now got you on my ipod and the refrain "tell me that you won't let go........." is dancing in my head constantly now! Its an earworm of the best kind. :)

sounds really cool, but yes being in the u.k , i dont get to see the broadcast live due to the silly hr it is. Though i am usually up but busy busy feeding my little one lol
