Terra Naomi changed the independent music landscape when she posted a series of videos on YouTube, quickly building a global audience of millions and signing deals with Universal Music Publishing and Island Records. The willing recipient of an unusual card, Terra’s journey has taken her across the globe, entertaining audiences from the US to Western Europe to Cape Town and Kashmir, performing for 8 people in a private home, 80,000 people at Wembley Stadium, and every size audience in between.
Terra has toured and shared the stage with notable artists like The Fray, Natasha Bedingfield, Sara Bareilles, Martha Wainwright, Eric Hutchinson, Italian pop star Elisa, and many others, and has played in some of the most beloved venues and festivals around the world, including Shepherd's Bush Empire, Hammersmith Ballroom, Wembley Stadium, Hyde Park Calling, Latitude Festival, and V Festival in the UK, Irving Plaza, Bowery Ballroom in NYC, historic opera houses throughout Italy, House of Blues in Chicago, The Bluebird Cafe and 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville, The Roxy, The Troubadour, Ford Amphitheater, and Hotel Cafe in LA, Bumbershoot in Seattle, SXSW in Austin, CMJ in NYC, NATPE, The Meeting (Rimini), and Summit Series, to name a few.
Terra's songs have appeared in dozens of TV shows, films, and commercials, and she is currently working with world-renowned Spanish artist/composer Nacho Cano on his first Broadway musical.
In 2014, Terra made the difficult decision to step away and examine her motives behind making music.
“Some very challenging and painful things happened in my life, in rapid succession, and I realized that above all else, I needed to make sure I was living the life I wanted to live. I was not a happy person, and I realized it's all meaningless if we're not enjoying this experience of life. I’d been playing music and singing since I was a small child. I didn’t know if I loved it anymore, or if I was just programmed to do it. Stepping away made me realize exactly what creating music means to me, and there is no other path for me.”
After two years of exploration, Terra recommitted fully to her musical path, and in April 2016 raised $50,000 for her album and $500,000 for charity on Indiegogo.
In October, she recorded at Wilco's studio in Chicago with producer Tom Schick (Wilco, Iron and Wine, Rufus Wainwright), Joe Adamik (Iron and Wine, Califone), and Kelly Hogan (Neko Case, Mavis Staples). The new album is lush and melodic indie-folk, featuring Terra's emotionally raw and evocative songwriting and vocals.
